Unresolved Issues: When Justice Isn’t Just by Patrick L. Brooks

This life-changing story is about a family whose quiet lives were unexpectedly interrupted, by taking on the task of caring for fraternal twins of Mariah’s (wife) sibling whose rights as a parent were repealed. Calvin (husband) and his wife Mariah begin to see many maladaptive behaviors from the twins looming in their household, which not only affects their marriage, but the niece and nephew begin displaying bullying tactics toward their daughter Destiny.

The disunion between the married couple over decisions made concerning the children, ultimately reveals glaring issues in their marriage previously minimized. Calvin wants to relieve their home from these unsolicited behavioral problems, but Mariah’s loyalty to her family forces a rift between them layered with dismal consequences. The Russell’s family foundation will be tested, and they’re future will be determined, if able to withstand this new wave of Unresolved Issues.

I was in love with the previous book from the series, but I am in complete awe about this one. It made me have more empathy for people thrown into a situation like that with children. At first I was leaning toward the wife but I came to understand the husbands position. Great stuff, very educating.
